I Shall Not Live in Vain

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;

If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,

Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,

I shall not live in vain.

– Emily Dickinson

I do love the robins. They have more expression than any bird ought to have.

They nest nearby. I’m not entirely sure where because if they wanted me to know, they’d let me know. I respect the privacy of the nest.

In turn, the robin couple that visits (lives in) the backyard pay no mind to me.
